Takata opened its doors, and the Research Center started working on its first projects, which include reef monitoring, mangrove restoration, and the social perception program.

We started teaching ecology programs, and one of the Research Center’s main programs started: the Mahahual Coral Restoration Program. This program works on the active restoration of coral reefs in Mahahual. The goal is to restore 10,000 m2 of degraded coral reef in Mahahual by 2026.

Takata became a PADI 5 Star IDC Center, starting to certify instructors.

We built two cabañas and two suites, which allowes people who come and visit us to stay in our accommodations.

Those were years of creating partnerships with institutions such as Global Vision International (GVI), the United Nations (UN), and the Mexican Government.

A laboratory is being built for the Research Center. Takata started as a dream and now it is a community of people working on protecting the ocean.
